Meet the Staff - Matt Randall, DVM

I grew up in Bridger, Montana in a small ranching community where my dad, Dr. Ray Randall, was and is still the only vet for 30 miles! My mother, an AQHA and NRHA judge trained horses so getting into showing along with my older sister Erin, was something that just was a natural thing to do. I qualified for many AQHYA World Shows and served as AQHYA President.   I've ridden and shown horses for most of my life and at one point considered training reining horses professionally but vet school became the priority and showing took a back seat.

I attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings and studied veterinary medicine at Colorado State University. After graduation I did an internship at Elgin Veterinary Hospital in Texas, one of the busiest referral hospitals in the state.

While I was looking at practices to work for I took the time to visit Peninsula Equine's. Russ and Jan had been friends of our family for so long it just made sense to give them a visit and check out their practice. I wasn't sure California would be the place for me but at the time they had an opening for an Associate. It was then I decided that maybe it wouldn't be all that bad to give California a try. I extended my visit and interviewed with them and was glad to get the Associate position. As things turned out it has been a great experience! I love medicine and I also get to be involved with the surgeries. I really like the diagnostics of equine medicine as well, especially Ultrasound.

In fact I met my wife in an ICU stall in Texas and can personally vouch for the benefits of Shockwave Therapy. I do have two Quarter horses, "Huey" and "Reno" claim my wife's horse "Emmitt". I hope to show again one day as well as compete in roping. I do have an assistant that many of you may have met already, "Roxanne" my Border-Aussie cross.

One more thing...I do know first hand that it is possible for a cat to survive a run-in with a fan belt!
