Meet the Staff - Margaux Reitsma, Hospital Supervisor

Born in Michigan, I grew up in the Bay Area. As a licensed CA Paramedic I worked in Solan Co., San Joaquin Co., and Contra Costa Co. as a field medic for 10 years. I've also been a veterinary tech for large and small animals over the past 20 years.

It's such a great opportunity for me to work here at the clinic. I'm able to combine my passion for horses with my skills as a medic & vet technician which is what makes this job something that is so personally fulfilling. Everyday I have the opportunity to work with a team of professionals who care about the animals and have the skills to make a difference in their lives...this makes me happy to do my job; even if it does mean I need to get up at 5 each morning to get here on time!

I am a horse owner and a dressage rider of a Dutch Friesian "Gabe" who was a Christmas present from my husband 5 years ago.   We're a really good team and have competed at 1st level this year. Along with a horse, I also have an African Grey "Zimi" who I adopted from former client who surrendered him, 3 cats all rescued (2 bottle babies, 1 from roadside) and a Japanese Akita.

With that said, in my spare time (what spare time) I like to sleep, garden, ride, decorate, ride, shop, ride, ride and with my husband remodel our log cabin and of course...ride!
