Meet the Staff - Careena Laney, Technician
Born in San Jose, CA. I have been obsessed with horses since I was a little girl. I talked my mom into putting me in riding lessons at Garrod Farm's at a very young age. Since then I have been trying to save every horse in the world one at a time. I currently own 8 (could be more..It's hard to tell). I have “Hoover get the keys” and “Mr.Tack Nail”, both ex-race horses. “Catolena Slip” and “Peppy's Tess O'lena”, both AQHA. I have “Runaway Dancer” and “Ain't no bunny rabbit”, both still racing in southern CA. Also, “Dampkring” and “Silent Demand” will be heading to the track soon. I also have two horses I ride full time “Up and Gone” and “Thomas.” I ride many disciplines from reining to polo, western pleasure to dressage.
As if the horses were not enough, I like to keep my self busy. Most importantly I am a mom. I have a wonderful four year old boy (also an avid rider). To pay the horse bills I work full time at Stevens Creek BMW as Assistant Service Manager. I am a Mounted Deputy Sheriff for the San Francisco Sheriff's Office. I own Portola Valley Horse Transportation and do most of the emergency hauls for the clinic. But of all these things my favorite is working for the clinic. I only work a few hours a week but wish I could fit in more. It is such an amazing experience to meet and help all the wonderful horses and the people that we have in this area.
**Note: The picture is of me on “Hoover get the keys”. He underwent emergency colic surgery on 9-14-07. He was not expected to survive. He was saved by the staff at Pen Eq.**
