Surgery Services

Horses are anesthetized in our padded induction room and moved into the surgery suite on a hoist. The horses are then maintained on a large animal anesthesia machine which delivers the anesthetic gas.

This is an example of a horse having surgery to remove and enterolith from his large intesting

Link- What is an enterolith?

This horse had multiple enteroliths removed from his intesting

Following surgery, horses are then placed in the padded recovery stall. They are assisted to stand with head and tail ropes. This horse still has the endotracheal tube in place.

Many horses that undergo colic surgery recover completely

Lasers are commonly used in horse surgery for tumor removal and bladder stone fragmentation
