Equine veterinarians are often questioned about medications and supplements that are potentially helpful in preventing and treating gastro-intestinal tract disorders. There are literally hundreds of products out there that are marketed as beneficial to the equine gastro-intestinal tract. They are not all the same regarding effectiveness, method of action, and cost. One thing is for sure, gastro-intestinal problems manifest differently from one horse to another, and appearances (i.e. clinical signs) can be deceiving! Stress or nervousness is not always correlated with Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (GUS) and both "prevention" and "cure" should be considered.
